In December 2022, the Government announced that Balaam Wood Academy & Green Meadow Primary will benefit from a £1.8 Billion School rebuilding project!
I have been pushing for this, alongside Balaam Wood Academy Headteacher Damian McGarvey, since we first met when Gary was elected in 2019. The project will see the replacement of outdated facilities with a new building, which will bring new resources that for the pupils, staff and local area. I am absolutely thrilled that Balaam Wood School and Green Meadow Primary will be getting this much needed investment. This is terrific news for the schools, the pupils and our area. This is something I have raised with Ministers in the Education department and I am glad that they have listened!
We will now be working on the finer details and will do all we can to make sure the ball gets rolling as soon as possible.
We’ve achieved a lot across many areas, but now’s the time to keep pushing forward.
Some more of my work since 2019 includes…
• New 400 place SEND School secured.
• Secured funds to re-open Kings Norton Station.
• Campaign to save our weekly Bin Collections.
• Secured final payments for ex-MG Rover workers and unlocking the land, which will see hundreds of jobs, including manufacturing jobs, return to the area!
• Launched our campaign to see police stationed at Rubery Police.
• Secured funds for the re-opening of the middle platform at Kings Norton Station.
