Save the land of Boleyn Road Rec from building 70 new homes

I have been contacted by the Labour run Council about their plans to build 70 houses on the recreational ground off Boleyn Road. I have serious concerns about the loss of this much valued and needed green space in our area. As well as providing local residents with somewhere to spend leisure time, green fields also provide biodiversity and act as green lungs helping to clean the air we breathe in our local community. While the pandemic showed the benefits having green space nearby has on both our physical and mental health.

That is why I have launched a petition calling for the planning department to reject the planning application and for the Council to scrap their proposals to build on the recreation ground.

I am objecting on the following grounds:

· Loss of green space/public open space in an area with insufficient public open space.

· The development is over intensive for the site.

· The site would lead to an increase in traffic and parking on existing residential roads.

· Increase of pressure on local schools and doctors surgery.

· Will increase threat to nearby greenbelt sites.

· The application breaches TP9 of the Birmingham Development Plan which is in place to protect green spaces from inappropriate developments.

You can back my campaign to save the recreation ground by signing my petition overleaf and returning to me using the freepost reply form overleaf. Please also email the planning case officer Eddie Wrench by emailing eddie.wrench@birmingham.gov.uk stating the reference number 2022/03860/PA to also object
