I have recently been informed that the new owners of the Longbridge Shopping Centre have taken the decision to withdraw funding for public events.
For some time there has been a number of highly successful events held, mostly organised by dedicated local volunteers, around Longbridge which has helped foster a spirit of community and increased foot fall for the shops.
To step away from this community commitment, at any time, would be a blow for those who live and use Longbridge, but in the run up to Remembrance Day, where successful services have been held for many years, this is a disappointing and disrespectful decision.
Remembrance is a time for us to gather as a community and pay tribute to the service of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It also allows us to pay tribute to those who are still serving and protecting our nation.
Please sign my petition to call on the owners to bring back Longbridge Remembrance service and other events.
